Audio Book Description
The Lakota Way received the prestigious Audie Award, considered the “Oscar” award of the audiobook industry, in 2004 for the category of best inspirational audio.

The myth of Deer Woman teaches a lesson on respect. The legend of Crazy Horse illuminates a lesson on humility. And the story of Eagle brings home the importance of compassion. These stories from the heart of Lakota culture and its survival—and their meanings—still resonate deeply with our daily lives.

Rich with storytelling, history, folklore, and Marshall’s own personal experiences, The Lakota Way expresses the heart of Native American philosophy and the twelve core qualities that are crucial to the Lakota way of living: bravery, fortitude, generosity, wisdom, respect, honor, perseverance, love, humility, sacrifice, truth, and compassion.

Compelling and profound, The Lakota Way gives a fresh outlook to those searching for a new perspective on spiritual and ethical living.

Reviews
“Delightful.... Suitable for all listeners, this recording brings satisfaction on various levels—the lovely traditional music that accompanies the stories, the narrator's calm and expressive voice, and the timeless wisdom the parables and fables convey. Solemn, insightful, and vivid, these stories evoke a tribal community gathered close, intently listening to an oral tradition that enlightens and inspires.”—AudioFile

“These stories are our gift to the world. They are not guarded secrets; they are markers on the road to life—the answers soaring across the open prairies of our lives on the winds of wisdom—helping us, perhaps helping you.” -—Joseph M. Marshall III

"Marshall beautifully imparts Lakota wisdom...he certainly knows how to weave a story. An inspiring guide for a wide audience." -- Library Journal

The Lakota have a wisdom that transcends the ages, and Joseph Marshall delivers it with grace and power." -- Marianne Williamson

Great! Everyone should read this! I went so far as to buy a copy of the paper back. These are stories I look forward to sharing with my grandchildren. I would give this 10 stars if that were possible.
