| Audio Book Description |
| Basic Economics has been written with the thought that learning economics should be not only a relaxed experience but also an enjoyable one.
This is the revised and expanded edition of a new kind of introduction to economics for the general public—without graphs, statistics, or jargon. However, the enlargement of this edition is not just more of the same. In addition to being updated, Basic Economics has also become more international, with the inclusion of economic problems from more countries around the world because the basic principles of economics are not confined by national borders. Each chapter reflects the experiences of many different peoples and cultures. |

Story / sample based approach to learning about economics by Gary on August 21 2006
This is not a "textbook" of economics, but
instead a multitude of concise stories
demonstrating individually small economic
principle; it has zero math/formulas. The
stories explained turn into simple concepts (in
college these concepts would require knowing
economic formulas). The simple concepts are
cumulatively added into larger stories, making
it clearier at the end of the book to understand
the 6-7 inputs/outputs (consumer costs, trust,
citizen reaction, production efficiency,
politics, and compouded effects) of something
such as a tariff based import policy. Okay, it
doesn‘t seem so exciting, but you‘ll be able to
know how all the inputs/outputs of the problem
inter-relate and back them up with an example
for each.
If you debate politics/public policy, put
another club in your bag. The book is 16 fairly
easy hours on a normally dry subject. The book
encourages looking at longer cycles times of
economic options and outcomes, not just instant
computation of numbers.
I chose this as a leisure book on
recommendation, you ought to as well. The
concepts are so grounded in examples you
encouter daily you can‘t "forget" what is
explained.
